Alamo Heights wins region girls swimming title

Alamo Heights emerged as the champion of the UIL Region VII-5A girls swim meet Thursday night at Josh Davis Natatorium Bill Walker Pool.

The Mules, who finished third at last year’s Regional, chalked up 379 points while winning five events. Austin’s Liberal Arts and Science Academy (Lasa) was runner-up with 279, while Austin Anderson placed third at 213.

New Braunfels Canyon tied for fifth with Austin McCallum (151 points), while Canyon Lake was 10th with 78 points. Canyon Lake’s Kim Moses was elected Coach of the Meet by her peers.

Neuqua Valley’s Boyle has gained confidence each year

It’s a little funny now, but there was a time when Neuqua Valley senior sprint freestyler Connor Boyle wasn’t the cool, confident swimmer he is today.

“As a freshman, I didn’t know what was going to happen,” Boyle said. “I didn’t know if I was going to be on the varsity. (I said), “I’m going to swim and see what happens.”

What happened? A lot. He made it to state in all three relays and the 100-yard freestyle. As a sophomore, he was a member of the Wildcats’ state champion 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Massive 10-Foot-Long Crocodile Found Swimming In Home Backyard Pool [Video]

A couple in South Africa was shocked to discover a massive crocodile swimming in their home’s backyard pool. 

Angel Breytenbach told news outlet UPI she and her husband, Jacob, saw the reptile Monday morning, and couldn’t believe how it managed to enter the pool. A video, which was posted on Twitter and went viral, showed the large 10-foot-long crocodile in the swimming pool. 

The video of the rescue showed the wildlife trappers, who were called to the scene to remove the reptile, using a lasso to take it out of the water. The men were seen in the video trying

Mundelein’s Fathallah hoping to make the best of short season

While area swimmers are happy to hit the waters again, there’s a degree of disappointment because the swimming season has been cut to six weeks with no sectionals or state meet.

“I had a lot of my goals set around things like sectionals and state, so we were initially happy to resume the season but disappointed with no state meet,” said Mundelein junior standout and captain Omar Fathallah.

Fathallah crashed onto the scene a couple of years ago and finished in the top-12 in the state in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events in each of the last two years.
