WAUKESHA — Chi-Hi senior Cooper Porzondek set a pair of new school boys swimming records on Saturday with a strong performances at the Division 1 state championships at Waukesha South High School.

Porzondek finished ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.88 seconds and 13th in the 50 freestyle in 21.46.

Salisbury’s girls swim team took fourth place in the 1A/2A Central Regional held in Greensboro on Saturday.

Emily Knorr won the 200 free (1:52.07) and 500 free (4:57.33). Katie Knorr won the 200 IM (2:05.70) and 100 backstroke (58.91).

Salisbury took third place in two relays. The Knorrs teamed with  Meredith Burton and Sage Huffman in the 400 free rela. Huffman and Maggie Alexander teamed with the Knorrs in the 200 medley relay.

It was a tight race. Community School of Davidson and Pine Lake Prep totaled 62 points.Mountain

A Napier street was evacuated and a health warning issued after a Hawke’s Bay business spilt 100 litres of hydrochloric acid into a storm water system that flows into Ahuriri Estuary.

The Hawke’s Bay Regional Council issued the warning on social media after the spill on Friday, in the Thames St area, which has then entered the storm water system and into the Tyne St drain.
